NIKHIL SINHA - Indian Cuisine

Vindaloo

Looking to spice things up? An extremely popular Indian dish is Chicken Vindaloo, or beef, pork or lamb.

Vindaloo also called Vindalho was first brought to Goa by the Portuguese and became a popular meal served for special occassions.

Known in Portuguese as Vinha d'Alho (from "vinha" wine vinegar and "alho" garlic), this was a pork dish cooked with plenty of wine vinegar and garlic, it soon received the Goan treatment of adding plentiful amounts of spice and chili. Restaurants often serve this dish with chicken or lamb.

Be careful when ordering the Vindaloo. I would strongly suggest on ordering this dish from lightly to mildly spicy and adding spices and seasonings later, rather than ordering an item that would be too hot to enjoy.
